Text Direction Converter & RTL Fixer

Text direction determines the reading order of content. While English reads Left-to-Right (LTR), languages like Arabic and Hebrew read Right-to-Left (RTL).

The tool scans your input to find strong directional characters. For example, if it finds a Latin character (A-Z), it assumes LTR. If it finds an Arabic character, it switches to RTL.

These are invisible codes (like LRM or RLM) used to override browser settings. They act like hidden tape, forcing text to flow a specific way.

Use this to manually flip text, useful for stylistic design choices or testing how a layout handles opposite direction flow.

This usually happens when Arabic text is copied from a source that strips direction information, so letters render left-to-right and word order flips. Paste the text here, choose RTL as the target direction, add RLM marks if needed, then copy the result back into WhatsApp — the control characters travel with the text and keep it readable in chats on Android and iPhone.

Word handles RTL natively: set the paragraph direction with Ctrl+Right Shift (or Paragraph → Text Direction → Right-to-left) and enable the Arabic keyboard in Windows language settings. Use this converter to repair text that was typed or imported without those settings — wrap it with RLE/PDF marks here, then paste it into Word with the correct paragraph direction already applied.

In Photoshop, enable the Middle Eastern text engine (Preferences → Type → Choose Text Engine Options → Middle Eastern and North African), then use the Paragraph panel to set right-to-left direction. For mixed Arabic and Latin layers, fix the string here first — per-line direction and Unicode marks prevent the classic broken punctuation and mirrored brackets inside Photoshop text layers.

RTL text is text that reads from right to left, so lines start at the right edge and flow leftward. Major RTL languages include Arabic, Hebrew, Persian (Farsi), Urdu, Pashto, and Divehi. Most other languages — English, Chinese, Russian, and so on — are LTR (left to right). If a document or chat message shows RTL text in the wrong order, paste it into this converter to restore the correct direction.

Reversed Arabic or Hebrew usually appears when text is copied out of an app that drops direction information: the characters survive, but the renderer treats them as LTR and flips the word order. Paste the broken text here, use Auto Detect to identify the real direction, apply Force Reverse or add RLM/RLE marks, then copy the repaired output. The per-line direction option fixes documents where only some lines are affected.

LTR (left-to-right) text begins at the left margin and flows right; RTL (right-to-left) text begins at the right margin and flows left. The direction also mirrors layout: in RTL interfaces, headings align right, numbered lists count from the right, and icons sit on the opposite side. A single paragraph can contain both directions at once — that is bidirectional (bidi) text, which Unicode control characters keep in the right order.

Paste your Arabic text and set the target direction to RTL, or rely on auto-detection, which recognizes the Arabic Unicode block automatically. The converter can embed RLM and RLE/PDF bidirectional controls so the output keeps its direction in editors, spreadsheets, and web pages. On an HTML page, also set dir="rtl" on the surrounding element so the whole layout mirrors correctly.
